If you'd like to see some more Air America whining, take a look at Danny Goldberg's comments at alternet.org. Goldberg is the latest CEO of Air America Radio.
Where do I start with this? His complaints are about right-wing lies. I'd like to understand the truths behind these statements: "Business is booming at Air America;...", "Air America is in strong financial shape." The folks he spoke of, the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly, are syndicated by networks whose financials are public knowledge. Their booming business can be proven quickly. Has anyone seen Air America's financials? Yeah, yeah, they're privately held and all. Making them public would end once and for all any of the questions us right-wingers have. Air America, show them, and I'll publically apologize.
They use proof of their booming business with the comment "Last week we started broadcasting from our new multi-million dollar studios." All that proves is that they know how to spend money, not make it. Even our government can do that, at a loss or deficit at that.
Following that, they went after those who have problems with their PBS-style requests for money. They are now giving out 3 bumper stickers for $50. $100 gets you the 3 stickers plus a stylish tote, and $250 gets all of that plus on the air thanks. Wow! They have related this to Rush, Sean, and Bill selling mugs, newsletters, and online access to special areas.
The logic breaks down for one really big reason: Air America is doing that mug kind of stuff, too. Rush and kin don't have to do both. And, to top it off, everything Rush and friends do MAKES money, or they get out of it.
Come on, Air America, quit whining. Make a product someone will buy, and you won't have to add another revenue stream. Whoops, just gave away a capitalist's secret.
