Recently I posted about Rush's "Adopt-A-Soldier" program. Seems that post, and I'm sure others like it, has caused a little stir at the liberal blog The Sideshow. So, for those there that might need some lessons on conservatism and life in general, here it goes:
1) Capitalism. Yeah, I know that's a dirty word. But those who earn their living in such a society aren't doing their business for free. They don't get very far doing that. For those who don't like that idea, I'm sure their are plenty of Socialist countries who would be happy to have new citizens.
2) Limbaugh's letter is online for free? Where? Feel free to fill me in, but no one I know has been able to find it.
3) It's suggested that Limbaugh himself isn't giving anything himself. Look closer at the transcript of his on air conversation:
So I'm going to buy, personally -- this is not going to be an accounting trick. I am actually going to have a number of these Adopt-a-Soldier subscriptions bought and paid for by me on my super-secret credit card -- and I'm not going to tell you how many. Well, no, I'm not going to tell you how many but it's going to be a significant number. I'm going to do it. I'm going to buy some too. I don't want anybody to think that it's all up to you, because it's a great idea.
4) This whole drive for adopting a soldier is because bunches of them actually WANT to listen to him. This drive is in answer to Harkin's desire to take what little of Limbaugh is on Armed Services Radio totally off the airwaves. So, hey, a whole bunch of us desire to give them an alternate way to get Limbaugh, instead of giving something else not even brought up (USO, phone cards, etc.). Not that these are not great ideas, but there are already plans for supporting those. See the link for phone cards for troops, or the USO themselves on our sidebar.
5) Oh yeah, get on board with Murtha, huh? See the previous post and the roll call for the resolution vote. Murtha voted no. As in against the resolution. Sounds like he is truly on board with us.
