I applaud the move the Republicans are making in the House tonight to make the Democrats put up or shut up regarding the Iraq war. I especially enjoyed reading about Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio, passing along the words of a Marine colonel:
"He asked me to send Congress a message _ stay the course. He also asked me to send Congressman Murtha a message _ that cowards cut and run, Marines never do,"
Naturally, that caused a ruckus with Democrats decrying the remarks as personal attacks (like they would never do such a thing). However, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and is yellow like a duck, you can't call it a hippopotamus.
I recognize and applaud Mr. Murtha's service in Vietnam, but that was then and this is now. His call for surrender in the war on terror is plain cowardice and is a repudiation of all his past military service stood for. No one likes to see a hero fail, but sometimes they do.
