First, we have Hawaii, with their crazy plans to keep gasoline cheap. Now we have Minnesota with a competing idea. Seems a gas station chain has been fined $140,000 for selling their gas too low. No, that's not a typo.
I'm sure both states had good intentions in their price control legislation. I actually understand Minnesota's intentions better than Hawaii's - keep big guys from underselling the little guys. Regardless, it's still price controls, and they rarely allow the consumer to come out ahead.
