The South Dakota abortion bill currently awaits the governor's signature. One set of wording in the bill excites me to see (HT: Peter at prolifeblogs.com):
Moreover, the Legislature finds that the guarantee of due process of law under the Constitution of South Dakota applies equally to born and unborn human beings, and that under the Constitution of South Dakota, a pregnant mother and her unborn child, each possess a natural and inalienable right to life.
This wording bears striking resemblance to another famous document:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Thank you, South Dakota, for taking a stand for life. We'll be watching and praying as it inevitably makes it way to the Supreme Court.
