"Logan's Run" in the Workplace

Remember the 1976 movie "Logan's Run"?  The main plot of the movie was that no one was allowed to live over 30 years old.

It looks as though LM Ericsson AB in Sweden is taking the plot from the movie and applying it to it's workforce.  They are now offering buyouts to 1,000 of their employees aged 35 to 50.  They will be replaced by a hiring of 900 people under 30.
