According to a news release on cnn.com today, it looks like there'll be a new Star Trek movie released in 2008. It's supposed to be in the time period before The Original Series of the 60's, but after the Enterpise "pre-quel" time period. It's discussed that it will have a young James T. Kirk and Spock, who meet at Starfleet Academy.
As a trekkie myself, I look forward to seeing another one in the Trek series. However, it will be undoubtly weird to see someone else playing Kirk and Spock. I'm not sure how people will take seeing other, younger actors playing such historic characters.
