Time Warner Cable is currently testing metered internet access. One downside:
A possible stumbling block for Time Warner Cable is that customers have had little reason so far to pay attention to how much they download from the Internet, or know much traffic makes up a gigabyte. That uncertainty could scare off new subscribers.
This could become an even bigger deal for those who use such internet services as Vonage. Even talking on the phone goes against download caps.
This whole deal may just move folks to the phone companies: "Phone companies are less concerned about congestion and are unlikely to impose metered usage on DSL customers, because their networks are structured differently."
It will be interesting to see how this changes the broadband customer mix.
